The Col de Turini with friends and six Pan Bagnats
Appointment arranged early in the morning in Lantosque, far from the hustle and bustle and at the foot of the Col de Turini. But no question of going there directly : we choose a small road behind to reach the Col Saint Roch, a little hidden in the Paillon valley. The team is equipped with Scapada, except Adrien with his Paula, and even pumped up, he is in the lead and leading the dance... at least, for now.
Between the Roya and Bevera valleys
First gentle climb of 20 kilometers to the Col de l'Orme, passing by small roads and the Col de Braus, where we approach 1000m of D+. There is chatter, people eat bars, pee break, and we meet Manu on a solo ride. He goes down, we go up : the team is in good shape, and half of the elevation gain is in the bag. We continue at the same pace to Sospel, stopping here and there for a few photos, before the well-deserved refreshment at THE local bakery. In fact, we are so excited that we have one too many Pan Bagnat, it will make an Alpine hiker happy.
Sitting on a bench, bikes balanced on the low wall, river in the background, it's the perfect moment. Ice cream for dessert, then we set off again to attack the Turini : 24 km and 1250m to swallow. At 2pm, under a blazing sun, the fountain of Notre Dame de la Ménour, even dubious, is a blessing. A short detour by the Roman bridge, and everyone goes there for a break in the shade or a mini exploration to the chapel.
We set off again, and a break is necessary at Moulinet where a fresh water fountain saves our bottles. Matt takes the opportunity to dip his feet, Adrien goes for apnea head first. Last push to the summit : the gourmet break weighs a little on some, and the last kilometers become a real test. Jeremy reaches the summit first, followed by Adrien after a real battle with Matt. The rest of the team follows, no one is left behind !
L’Apogée: Terrace, Coca-Cola and Blueberry Pie
We sit straight on the terrace : cokes, giant syrups, and above all, THE Blueberry Tart. Sitting in the sun, we savor the moment before starting the last descent. Result : about 90 km, 2500m of D+, and a day of pure pleasure.
